Shannon Woods
Scholar | Writer | Educator | Dance Artist
Shannon Woods (she/her) is a dance artist, writer, and educator who earned her PhD in Theatre, History, and Criticism, with an emphasis in Performance as Public Practice from the University of Texas at Austin in 2025. She also holds a certificate in Women’s and Gender Studies. Prior to this, she received an MA in Performance Studies from New York University Tisch School of the Arts in 2019, and a BA in English and World Literatures, and a BFA in Dance, both magna cum laude, from Marymount Manhattan College in 2015. As a researcher, she examines the intersection of choreography, policing, and performances of protection in U.S. American culture.
